FYI- Fixer upper S&W M1917 on auction

Interesting, thanks ATTICUS.
His opening seemes to be wistful thinking, be interesting to see if anybody wants one that badly.

I love the "patina finish." In other words, NO FINISH. Patina is a polite word for RUST. I don't see where this gun has any collector value due to its lack of original finish, and as a shooter it be pretty ugly. Could be refinished but that would cost around $200 so unless you want to have a $600 reblued 1917 shooter I don't see this as a great deal. Or even a good deal. Or any sort of deal, for that matter. To me (and I have been slapped around for stating low values on guns) this is worth about $100-$125. Note there were no bids. I suspect it would sell in the $225-$250 range, but I would not buy it. If I am going to have $400 plus in a revolver it's not going to be a reblued 1917.

I dunno....$200, some emory cloth, elbow grease, some Oxpho blue. Could be a nice shooter for under $220.

I brought home a 1917 today (not that one thank God). Mine is about 95% I'd guess and it cost me a little less than this one.
