Fur, Feathers, or Both

I know some hunters that will only hunt a species or two. This seems espically so amongst the duck hunters I know. I also know guys that will hunt anything that there is a season for. Today they might be in a deer stand and tomorrow in a duck blind.

I hunt for most legal species, but not all of them. I don't waterfowl hunt much. I can't sit still for that long. I prefer to be moving around and that is lousy strategy for ducks. I haven't tried coyotes yet even though there are plenty of them around here. Off season varmints bring great joy to me. Jack Rabbits are everywhere around here. They are great practice.

I suppose if I concentrated on hunting one or two creatures I'd might actually get good at it. But I like variety.

What about you guys? Do specialize in hunting one or two species or do you try your luck at whatever happens to be open? Is there any type of hunting that you just can't get into?

I hunt anything I can get a license for.

Have hunted coues deer, mule deer, antelope, elk, bison, bear, caribou, waterfowl, dove, quail, rabbits, squirrels, turkeys, coyotes, bobcats, fox, javalina, mt lion, 'coon, and various varmints. I've hunted 4 states, plus Mexico.

It's not just the variety; I love to hunt, and the more, the better.

My personal policy is that if I can't eat it why hunt it???? I hunt deer, squirrels, rabbits, ducks, geese. grouse, quail, doves and pheasant. I don't have a receipe for fox, coyote or anything like that........

Once I left for the military I cut back a lot. I am out now living in VA, but still haven't gotten back into small game hunting. I don't get enought ime off to get back up to PA for pheasants. I usually get at least one dove hunt in early. Mostly hunt deer but have recently been getting in duck and goose hunting. Wish I had more opportunities to hunt ducks and geese as it is a lot of fun. Just hard to find places to go and people to go with.

I'm with whoever said that it needs to be edable......don't like to waste things.

That said we do look about for coyoties ( Never successful! ) at times as they seem to be growing in humbers here in NE Fl. And one of them we shot had hog hair in it. Don't like them stealing our Bar B Q......

I dont do birds every thing else is fair game.If you can eat it thats a plus

love GATORS way up on the list:D

I hunt grouse and deer mostly, but will take a rabbit if I find one. I have hunted turkeys and bears before.

Fur for me. Pheasant are about gone, don't like duck and goose and refuse to try turkey (I don't need ANOTHER hobby). Rabbit, squirrel, coyote, fox, deer, raccoon are where the funs at.

I like deer and elk the best, but predators have become a close second. Predator hunting combines the thrill of big game with a long season and multiple bag limit, and it's great parctice for big game. I do enjoy a good quail or dove hunt, and we go out for snakes sometimes as well. Squirrels are my favorite small game to hunt and eat.
