Funny, scary satire on Gore.

Here's a link to a satirical piece on Al Gore. It manages to be both funny and scary at the same time. http://www.sierratimes.com/eddr021500.htm

Reading "Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal," by Ayn Rand, should be required of every politician and in every high school.

Don't see much "funny" about it, probably not far from reality, 2005. Be sure to hit "Back To The Ranch" at the bottom of the page, real nice site. You can even subscribe to it.

A forgotten element in the current race is that there's a large "younger vote" out there that has NOT forgotten who Tipper is, and will fight Al tooth and nail to keep him out of the big chair.

In fact, we play that card right, we might be able to convince people that banning guns is no more intelligent than trying to ban rock'n'roll.

One of my favorite songs as a teenager was Warrant's "Ode to Tipper Gore."

Transposed to TFL, the lyrics would look something like this:

****!
****!
****!
**** **** ****!
****ing ****!
****!
****!
CHECK OUT THIS ****!

I'm sure you all get the idea.

David, great piece. It's being printed now for posting on campus. (with your permission, of course) ;) You really caught the tone of today's Democrat/Republican trying to sound like he's just talking down-home common sense.

That's not satire at all. Satire means drawing an exaggerated and probably false picture of somebody, starting with known characteristics.

Did YOU see anything exaggerated or false?

Bwahahahahahaha!

Wow. Excellent job, David.

As regards satire, anyone else remember MAD? That was satire, of course... but there were also numerous documented cases of MAD ESP, in which reality actually reflected satire after publication.

Shivers.

Well, I got my first feedback on David's writings today. I SWEAR I am NOT making this up. I really do live among people this dumb.

I had a class with my neighbor today and he mentioned "your freakin', like, manifestos you post on the wall." He seemed to be joking at that stage so I jokingly asked him what was wrong. Well, he says the "manifesto" is "sick" because it "says kiddie porn is part of our freedom, and stupid **** like that."

The line he's referring to is where David has Gore say that the new database containing info on every user of the internet will be used to fight child pornography. In other words, this wasteful lump of skin and bone took the fictional Gore character's word for it and simply assumed that David was in favor of child pornography! How can I reason with these cattle?!?
Well, the article will have to come down. Obviously the sheep aren't ready for it yet. Sorry, David.

Gwinny,

Can't say I'm surprised. Say, is there an introductory logic course offered at the college there? Might help some of your fellow scholars.

Don't worry about it. I'm just going to start his lil' puddin' head off slow. I'll start with the old piece where the guy cold called a grammar expert and was told that the language of the 2nd makes it apply to everyone (this from an admittedly ANTI-GUN grammar expert) and move on to "This is Julie" when I think they're ready.
Maybe someday they'll be able to process satire. I bet Mark Twain would make smoke come out his ears.
