Funny (embarrassing) Beretta Experience

Was buying some mags for my pistol today and as most do I was checking out some guns.

One in particular that I was fondling was a berreta 92 compact.

Knowing that beretta's are notorious for there ability to be stripped down really
easy. I procede to remove the slid.

Simple.
Easy.
Problem...

I could not get the damn slid to reattach, would not click back into place. So Im felling like a total moron for a few minutes and I finally ask the guy behind the counter to do it... he could not get it either. So he had to ask one of the other guys, who was on the phone at the time to resolve are little dilemma, he could not get it either. He ended up having to grab the manual. I ended up just buying the mags and leaving, not waiting for them to figure it out.

So, I ended up not felling like a total dork. But I doubt Ill be going to the store for Great Gun advice.

In one gun store, I asked the clerk to show me how to field strip a Colt Pony before I bought it. I was unfamiliar with the process and wanted to make sure it did not require rocket scientist brains. The chap informed me that they don't allow any of their guns to be "opened" (he meant stripped). In retrospect, I am thinking that he may not have known how to do it either. I bought a gun elsewhere from a nice guy that promptly opened it up, showed me what was what, and then quickly put it together. He would not let me strip it myself, saying something about liability, but that if I purchased the gun, I could strip it there and he would make sure that I could get it back together. I bought the gun.

(Have a Taurus) Sounds like the firing pin stop lever was sticking up from the frame when you tried putting the slide back (but wouldn't fully retract).
