Virginia's carry laws always cracks me up.
1)
15.2-915 says localities can no longer create their own gun laws! VA State laws reign supreme in the commonwealth. It even explicitly takes away the right of localities to create ordinances, motions, and resolutions (15.2-1425) as it applies to guns. Basically a backhand to all the northern virginia localities who don't like guns are were messing with state laws.
2)
18.2-287.4 says that you cannot carry firearms openly. But firearms for the purposes of that section only means guns that have more than 20 rounds or folding stock or silencer or shotgun with more than 7 rounds. That hilarious! That's like saying you can't carry guns except that for this purpose guns means guns that hold more than 20 rounds and have silencers or folding
stocks. All other guns are fine. My state isgreat...

You can not conceal a handgun in a bar but you can open carry a handgun. There is some logic to this .... I guess... actually I don't get it but whatever... just sounds funny. Image of a guy walking into a bar saying oops let me show you my handgun since it is the law and give me a couple beers I've had a bad day...
