I got this today and thought it a simple plan to carry out... spread the word if you like.

WE ARE SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT A GRASS ROOTS EFFORT:

"The idea was proposed at another forum site that if we wanted to send an
unmistakable message to the gun banners we should all go out and buy at least
1 box of ammunition on Monday,July 3rd this year, the day before INDEPENDENCE
DAY. If 10 million boxes of ammo were sold in 48 hours nation wide it would
make international news." We think this is a VERY GOOD IDEA -- and even
though we reload, we're planning to participate, and we think you should too.
Please pass the word to your friends and post to all your favorite forums.

THEN BUY A BOX ON TUESDAY, JULY 4! IMAGINE 10 MILLION BOXES OF AMMO SOLD IN
48 HOURS! Not a bad answer to the "Million Mom March", eh?

If you agree, please spread the word. Tell your friends, and forward this
message to everyone you think would be supportive of this cause.

Handloaders can buy a box of primers and accessories and count themselves for a thousand rounds.

Strikes me as an excellent idea, with on proviso; We should inform the place we buy our ammo of this ahead of time, as some places don't keep THAT much on stock. Kinda blunt the effect if the stores ran out halfway through the day, don't you think?

Excellent idea. Consider it done.

One good thing about having different calibers I guess would apply in this case. It's tough to imagine them running out of all of 'em. ;)
 
I realize this is a well-intentioned idea, and therefore I'm sorry to have to point out that it has a fatal flaw.

In order for this to "make international news," there would have to be some mechanism by which the news media were informed of ammunition sales from the literally millions of outlets in the U.S. No such mechanism exists, nor will the news media devote any of their resources to checking this out.
 
hehe Only one box of ammo.... I know people that buy (sometimes) ummmm well how many boxes are in 10 cases of ammo for SKS/AK47???

ok I just read another post in here..

Wouldnt it be more porductive to say have millions of poeple join the NRA on July 4th?? That WOULD make the news I am sure.

All you have to do is start calling your news outlets including gun-friendly talk radio. It starts with one ripple. The media will ignore us at their discretion. That doesn't mean we can't rally the troops anyway.

I'm thinking about a GOA membership, too. That costs about what 2 boxes of .45 ACP runs me.

Those of you who don't intend to buy a box of ammo on the 3rd, please let me know. I'll buy extra to make up the slack. :D
