Fulton Armory M1 Carbines

I see they are having a 10% Black Friday sale. Gets the price down to $1,250. Anyone have one and think they are worth it?
Before someone starts saying "Hell no" and "Buy an AR + ammo" understand that I really like M1 Carbines, have 2 already (an Inland and an AO) and have a lot invested in mags and ammo for them. Trying to decide if I want to add another platform (5.56 or .308) or add something (supposedly) really nice to an existing collection. Just want to know if they are worth the premium over a beat up CMP/USGI or commercial AO.

Respectfully disagree about the CMP, Ridgrunner, they only have M1 carbines on the occasional auction that seem to go higher than this and they are down to field grades on the Garands, service grades are gone for now. Higher grade Garands are available but you are near $900 for those. Not saying they aren't worth it, just saying we're not likely to see $600 M1 carbines any more.

You can still find genuine USGI carbines in very good shape for well under what Fulton want to rob you of for one of theirs. Ain't nothing like the real thing , baby!

Looked hard at the Fulton offerings...

USGI receiver, which is what the collectors really value, but new match barrels. New wood, too. Mil-spec for the rest of the parts. It's a lot of dough, no doubt, but it's not crazy for a good shooter with some authenticity. You can get equal accuracy and more authenticity with a USGI gun, if you have plenty of luck.

I just bought a USGI m1 carbine from gunbroker, we'll see if I should have saved up for the FA. I have an AO as well, seems to spray the paper even off a bench rest. I'll see what I can do with that one.

Mine is post war civilian spec, but I got it in a trade for about $500 worth of gun stuff...

You can still find nice GI Carbines for under $700, even less if look real hard. I remember the good old days when you could be a carbine for $100 bill and a GI 1911 for $50-75. I should have stocked up!

It's a Universal - entirely different kettle of fish. CMP is largely a non-issue now. Clean, GI, non (re)import guns are still going for a pretty penny "most" or at least a good many markets*, despite the economy, (*individual cases to the contrary notwithstanding). Not seeing it ebb a whole lot. Still, I agree that you can find a really nice "genuine GI" for a good deal less than the FA. OTOH, if you've got the jingle and don't care so much about real WWII/Korean War provenance, the FA (and a few similar others out there) are as close as you can get to a facsimile of a true, "new" GI-spec carbine.
