full length rail or two piece

still kinda new to forum ethics/operation so bare with me if this is a totally stupid question and not worth threading, but i really need some help with this.

so the other day i bought a Savage Axis in .223 Remington. I initially bought a two piece Redfield mount for it. for those of you that don't know, the Savage Axis has the same 110 long action for all of it's caliber offerings. I already had a scope and rings that i was going to put on it when i got it home. the scope going on top of it is a Bushnell Sportsman 4-12x40. i came to learn that with a two piece mount, the scope tube is too short to fit on the rifle. So now I have the dilemma of choosing either a full length rail (made by EGW) or try my luck with an two piece mount with an extended front piece. i was told that the extended two piece wouldnt be strong enough since the cut is made outside of the middle of the screws. anyone have one of these rifles or know which is the better way to go?

I'm not very familiar with the Axis, but long action Savage 110 series rifles are difficult to mount scopes on because of the insanely long actions Savage uses. If this is the same action you may have to use a 1 piece base. Normally I like 2 piece bases. If using 1 piece I like the DNZ mounts. I checked their website and they do offer them for the Axis.

I use an EGW rail on my Savage 10. Seems to be a good rail. It has securely held my 6-24x50 Bushnell FFP mil-dot firmly in place now for a while.

I would suggest a longer scope.
