How legal is this?

Well, I'm no lawyer etc, etc, etc...

That said the hood on the guy in the picture and the answer/misdirection to the question "Is this legal?" (Yes, Purchasing or selling Full Auto modification blueprints is perfectly legal and guaranteed by the First Amendment.) would have me guess no.

Looks like fun though.

Lone--
Looks entirely legal to me. You'll note, however, they offer ONLY the plans and drawings, and are careful to say that this is the ONLY thing they sell. They also throw in the caveat, "NFA Rules Apply" (National Firearms Act.)

You can purchase all kinds of drawings and plans for machine guns and conversions and other heavily regulated and taxed stuff. The problem comes if and when the purchaser makes the misstep of even BEGINNING to make one, without having done the requisite paperwork IN ADVANCE.

This stuff is very interesting, but is hardly worth the trouble and expense unless you are a pretty advanced student of full auto weaponry, or have a lot of money to invest. It is not usually worthwhile for the hobbyist to jump through the necessary hoops to do this stuff legally. And no right-thinking person would consider doing it ILLEGALLY. To spell it out, it is a FEDERAL FELONY to engage in the unlicenced manufacture of a machine gun.

ATF Online can be found at http://www.atf.treas.gov/firearms/relics/index.htm#SEC

This should answer most of your questions about the technicalities of (perhaps) staying out of trouble should you be tempted to undertake such a project. Naturally, their prime concern is to keep anyone from private ownership of certain items. For a somewhat more tolerant source of information, go to the TFL FULL AUTO forum and post questions there. There are several other Class 3 and machine gun interest sites on the net, but I don't have them bookmarked.

By the way--The illustration of the guy making empty brass is PROBABLY shooting a "standard" Glock 18. There were a few legally transferrable examples and some dealer samples that were imported before the complete ban. This information is entirely second and third hand to me--I've never fired a G-18 myownself.

I rather imagine the black hood is to add to the aura and mystique of the gun, as if the guy's doing something shady and downright illegal. Such activity really ticks me off, in that it leads the casual browser to think that most if not all those interested in full auto stuff are some kind of terrorists. This, to me, is akin to the Gun Show Commandos who parade about in battle gear, and most of whom have never had ANY military or police tactical training, much less ever been assigned to any combat unit. I think these guys may be related to those attracted to Ku Klux Klan and just want to wear the hood to scare people.

Well, looks as if I've gone well beyond answering your question and have climbed up on my own soap box, huh?

Good luck in your interest, but, please, be careful to avoid breaking the law, even inadvertently.

Best regards,
RR

Download the movie -- look
at the action after the second magazine is emptied. Is there is a round sitting in there?!

Thanks for the reply, I've a passing interest in full auto firearms but purely academic at the moment. 'fraid I'm currently domicile in the UK but looking to emigrate.

Anybody have any advice on what my situation would be once I make the move. What is the situation while I hold a Green card?

Assuming you move to the US, choose your state carefully if you want to own/shoot firearms. Some states will treat immigrants well, others do not even treat citizens well.

Hi Guys,
I have fired a Glock 18 on several occassions (usually when the regional Glock LE sales rep is trying to get my agency to buy them) and while they are totally COOL, they really do not perform any function not already handled by readily available selct-fire weapons such as the MP5 and the M16 Commando. One neat thing to try with one of the 18's and a full 33 round mag is a one-hand full auto burst to empty - that will show you who has the upper body strength and mass in a hurry!
To The Lone Ranger, we would welcome you to our fair country. So far as firearms laws and restrictions, as a general rule the southern states are the most lienient (liberal) when it comes to purchase and use of firearms. I would encourage you to spend some time researching the NRA's website ( www.nra.org ) to find specfic references to your circumstances. Good luck.
Be safe

If you believe the antis, you should be able to find full-auto Glocks at any gun show for about $50. No background check. Just cash and a brown paper bag. Everyone has them. They are great for leaving loaded on the coffee table when your kids have their friends over to play. We are all nuts and idiots, after all.

(Sorry...I live in CA and have just about been driven silly by all the gun laws!)
