Has anyone here ever heard of Ruger making 10/22's in a selective fire model. I am just wondering if there is such a gun out there. If it does exist it would be a fun plincker.
Ruger has reportedly played with the idea, but AFAIK none were ever released. Any that might be out there would have to have been made before 1986 and be owned on a Form 4 or they could not be transferred to a civilian.
Would be fun, though, with one of the pre-ban hi-cap mags.
As you probably know some Mexican firm made a couple versions of a very small 22 pistol that could be fired full automatic. They show up every now and then (without paperwork) because most people don't realize that they are a fully automatic weapon. As I recall they are covered in Smith's book and had a 8 round magazine.
As far as I know Ruger has never made the 10/22 in full auto. John Norrell of Arkansas made a number of full auto 10/22 trigger packs that would convert a semi-auto. I think someone else also made these conversions. The going rate for one of these that are register are around $5000 each. I have an Atchison conversion for my M16's that fire .22 rimfire full auto. I prefer the M16 conversion as it has been more reliable than the 10/22 conversions. If you are serious about a full auto .22 the best way to go is buy a registered reciever .223 and get the .22 conversion kit. As noted by the other post the American 180 is another option.
Some special ops units have used full auto 10/22's for several years now (especially impressive when combined with a good silencer). Check on ebay and some other auction houses and you can find complete directions on how to convert your 10/22 to full auto. These informative books/brochures are for purley informational purposes of course.
