I've been looking for a (relatively) inexpensive tang-safety (often referred to as a Mark I, since the Mark II has a side safety) Ruger 77R in .250-3000/.250 Savage for awhile, and finally glommed onto this one a few weeks ago.

I be taking it to my gunclub's range this week - IF we don't get the forcasted snow, i.e. :p

I've always wanted one of those. Soft shooting and great terminal results, wrapped up in a top notch rifle. I love the tang safety. Should shoot like a dream.

Nice buy there PetahW. A hard model to find these days in 250-3000s.

I liked my Round top so much on its first day of targeting at the Range with its having that locking bolt feature. I actually went and bought a second one 7 days later. One for me. The other for my son. Both 243s. We both still have them too. I hardly ever shoot mine anymore. But the son has used his every year since I gave it to him for deer hunting. There is talk that Ruger installed douglas barrels on many round tops. But not all. You might want to check on that rumor.

I've got much the same rifle but chambered in .257 Roberts. Bought it new for $188.52 in 1975. I'm a big Model 77 fan, though I do have a couple of MKIIs. You've got a really nice rifle, there, PetahW.

nice

Good for you Petah.

I've got a soft spot myself for the early red pad, tang safety Rugers. The lines so subtle and classic, handsome rifles no doubt.

Very nice. Getting that elusive one is very satisfying.

Sadly, one of the ones I lust after (Win 70 featherweight in 6.5x55) is on gunbroker right now, but I don't have the $1500 minimum bid price.

Beautiful little rifle, and one cool cartridge. I have two .250-3000 rifles myself. Well one is my daughter's but I still sneak it to the range.

Funny co-incidence - I sold my pristine 6.5x55 M-70FW, in an online/forum classifieds section about 6 mos ago ($1000).
