Front Sight Removal

I have a S&W Model 66 and I want to replace the red insert sight with a Hiviz. What size punch should be used to remove the pin? Also, the replacement sight needs to be drilled through once it is installed to allow the pin to be re-inserted. Should I use the same diameter as the pin when drilling or something smaller.

I try to do things myself in order to learn but am I in over my head.......?

Miles, I just did this not long ago and I can't remember exactly what size punch I used for that. I want to say 1/16" but it might have been a 1/32". For the hole in the new sight use the wire gage drill bit closest in diameter to the pin. Put the new sight in place and hold it in your drill press/milling machine vise with the side of the sight level, then drill through the exisiting holes using them as your jig for the new hole. George
