Front sight paint

Does anyone know of a permanent solution to the white paint chipping out of front sights?
Does anyone make a white insert that could just be glued in? I now redo them with white paint and it's temporary at best.

In not being quite sure of the gun we're talking about why dont you just replace the front sight? If you can not replace it I have used hi-temp engine paint before. You can get it in just about any color. As for inserts I have never used any.The engine paint works but its not a permenant solution.Check out a company called Millet.I dont know there web address or I would leave it for you.Goodluck. I've fired tens of thousands of rounds and only once had the white paint come out of the front site. That was on my Kimber. I cleaned out the pocket with solvent. Dried the area carefully. Then put a drop of white paint in using a toothpick. I used a bottle of artists paint. Don't recall if it was latex or oil. It's been there for several thousand rounds without any problems.

I've never had the same problem on any of my other guns (Kahr, ParaOrdnance, Glock, Sig, etc.).

Sight paint chipping
Go by your local hobby shop and pick up a small bottle of LUMINUS [glow in the dark] paint and a small brush.

If that doesn't work go by the cosmetic counter at your favorite discount store and pick up a bottle of your favorate color of FINGERNAIL POLISH.

Back when S&W M-66's came with SS front and rear sights, I replaced the rear sight with the sights off a M-19. I them bought some metal model paint at the hobby shop.. Black for the sides of the front sight and bright yellow for the face sighting side of the sight. Those two bottles of paint dired out before I ran out of paint.

I've had this happen to the rear sight on my Commander, and I actually "cleaned" off the red dot under the safety lever on my FEG SMC-380.

Pick your favorite paint (I use model paint as well) in the brightest white or color you can find, or luminous. But the more thoroughly you degrease the area, the longer your paint will adhere. Also, allow 24 hours drying.

YMMV.
