Front Sight adjustment for AR-15

Alright guys...I've been shooting ARs for a while now and they were all flattops. I recently got the chance to fire the first couple of rounds through my new Bushmaster DCM. I am doing the 25 meter sight in method. My problem is that I cannot get the front sight to budge at all! I've tried using the "bullet" method in the handbook but to no avail. Can someone please tell me a certain trick or easy way to move it? And is it common for the front sight to not move easily at first?

Thanks

Dan

Sight Adjustment Tool

I've never had any problems using the bullet trick. However, Bushmaster sells a sight adjustment tool for $8.

Okay...Problem solved. I completely forgot that the DCM rifle has a front sight set screw that you have to loosen before it will adjust! :) Dorcas thanks for the reply!

I'm a soon-to-be AR-15 owner (if the gov gets off its a$$)
and I've not heard of the bullet trick until now. Will someone enlighten me?

You can use the pointed tip of an FMJ bullet to depress the detent and adjust the front sight. (A soldier might not have a sight adjustment tool available in the field.) You can also use the bullet to punch the take-down pins.
