From Tipper on Guns & Kids

My first post...

This from Tipper Gore today:

His wife, Tipper, appeared on CBS' ``Early Show'' and said that ``easy access to guns on the Internet'' was a frequent concern of teens she met in recent campaign forums. ``They say they can order guns, they can order parts to guns and put them together,'' Mrs. Gore lamented.

So where are all these guns for sale on the internet? Here is California all sales must be recorder via a FFL holder. With the global access the internet provides perhaps school kids can order all sorts of weapons from Osama Bin Laden or other such? Too bad when Al "invented" the internet that he didn't include such a "gun-nanney" device to prevent kids buying weapons on-line. It's too bad we don't try to fix the obvious problems but instead holler about the non-existant but politically attractive.

Sounds like another winner from "Tripper" Gore. After all, she and Al WERE the role models for "Love Story". HEY.... Didn't the woman in that movie DIE???? I feel CHEATED!!

I hope this goes public....and then she gets her nose rubbed in it real good.
All this does is show how totally uninformed these people are.
That is what she gets for taking political advice from kids.

Tipper said "you could order guns on line easy".....Where Tipper, Where, Every place I have seen one line required you to ship to an FFL, not exactly easy access.

Tipper said "The children tell me guns are more available now than ever before" Whats that... prior 1968 any one could mail order anything with out proof (age or eligability)and all this back ground check stuff, So how are guns more available now??

If she knew her facts she would realize what a fool she made of her self. It proves she doesnt even have a clue what she is talking about. She should go back to trying to ban porn but then the liberals in the entertainment business would stop giving money to democrats.

Tipper! Hey, Tipper! Can you help me? I ordered a gun I found on the internet from an out-of-state dealer a week ago. I had to go to a dealer here, and give him my check and the address of the other dealer. I'll be getting the gun in a few days, and then I'll have to go through the waiting period as well. That will make my waiting period over two weeks!

Please, Tipper, tell me where I can buy a gun on the internet without all this hassle.

Since her hubby Al founded the internet, according to him, he ought to be able to put a stop to this.

The same thing appeared in a local paper's news magazine over the weekend. Tipper got the 'information' from a kid who supposed that you could actually do this. No Web sites offering this service were mentioned. The paper hasn't printed my letter yet, but they did print the last pro-gun letter I sent.

One of the other kids seemed horrified that eighteen year old persons could buy long guns. Of course, they can also get married, vote, and join the military and kill people for our country...

Welcome to TFL, Loki. And thanks for the post.

Longshot - love your alphabet call.

Everyone should read "The Real Frank Zappa Book" for a look into just how much of a fascist spaz this woman is.

Loki, welcome to TFL ... great catch, too.

This is just another example of intellectual drivel, and the brain-damaged media will never call her on it. They should retire the Pulitzer Prize ... there seem to be no 'real' reporters left anymore.

So, what good is a free press if they just print government lies? Not much, in my book. Hopefully some real journalists will arise someday to begin exposing this kind of crap.

Aaaagh.

I submitted the following to the "Early Show" complaint e-mail page.

On the Early Show yesterday, Mrs. Gore stated that "easy
access to guns on the Internet" was a frequent concern of teens she
met in recent campaign forums. "They say they can order guns, they can
order parts to guns and put them together,".

It is unfortunate that no one on your show is knowledgable enough about the firearms issue to have corrected her.

Yes, you can "order" a firearm on the Internet. It must be delivered to a federal Firearms License (FFL) holder and you must then go to that FFL and fill out the 4473 "yellow sheet", go through a background check, and comply with all waiting periods.

As for parts, yes you may "order" parts over the Internet -- except for the receiver. That is the part that makes the firearm a firearm; that is the part with the serial number; and that is the part that must be delivered to an FFL holder and you must then go to that FFL and fill out the 4473 "yellow sheet", go through a background check, and comply with all waiting periods.

Yes, it is too bad that you don't have anyone on your staff who knows these things. Until you do, you will continue to be a witting or unwitting co-disseminator of lies.

Wait just a cotton-pickin' minute here. So Mrs. Gore, you're trying to tell us that teens tell you that they CAN "order guns, and put them together", meaning that they've actually done this, and yet those same teens who do this (criminally, mind you) are complaining that's it's one of their "concerns"? I have to admit I would have done this, legal or not as teen if I could have (it couldn't be done then, cuz there was no internet, and it sure can't be done now either, cuz you can't get the receiver, even if you want to, without an FFL), but I certainly would never have voiced it to any person of authority as a "concern" because (A) I wouldn't want to get busted for having done it; and (B) If I had done it, I sure as hell wouldn't want to help anyone to stop my ability to do it again in the future. The whole statement makes no sense.

Loki:
You heard with your own ears Tipper Gore say things you already know are lies. Don't forget this lession about her.
Tommorrow, she may be saying things that sound good to you and of which you know little. Always remember the lession you just learned when hearing her speak and never forget that you own credibility, the faith that your friends have in your statements because they trust you, is one of your most precious assets.

If she knew the facts she wouldn't be a nipple head liberal anymore. Their trademark is complete ignorance.
