And if we look closer at Hungary, how much violent crime will we actually find?

Shooting Spree Reported in Hungary
BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) -- A man shot killed two people in a McDonald's restaurant and injured two others in a shooting spree, police said Wednesday.
The gunman entered McDonald's just before midnight while three patrons were arguing with restaurant employees, said Col. Laszlo Garamvoelgyi, a police spokesman.
''He then went into the men's room and emerged with a gun and started shooting,'' Garamvoelgyi said on state-run television.
The gunman then walked outside, shot a 17-year old on the street and walked on. Police caught him a few blocks away. He was identified only as Zsolt B., 25.
Two people shot inside the restaurant died, while a third was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in the head. The 17-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Such shootings are extremely unusual in Hungary, where gun control laws are strict and enforced. ''It was like something in America,'' Garamvoelgyi said.

I'll bet it won't be anything like America when the sentence is passed. This murderer isn't likely to sit on death row for 20 years awaiting endless appeals. Nor will he have the 'Jesse Jacksons' protesting all over the place.

Just like America? I don't think so; this guy seems to be ready to meet his Maker.

Well, I lived in Hungary for two years and speak fluent Hungarian. With that in mind, while I love the country and the people, I know that criminals can get their hands on firearms very easily. I had several opportunities to buy AK's while visiting there in January of this year.

What does the government expect when the average income per person is around $100 USD? The conversion is roughly 250 forints to $1.

"Like something in Averica", sure.
I got news for these guys, it not like America, it's really and truely Hungary.
These are people in denial. They need to wake up to reality.

Heard on the radio this morning: "in Ireland, demonstrators exchanged gunfire with police".

Huh? Are they saying UK laws aren't achieving their intended results?

And do me a favor. Please note it was the Protestant Orangemen shooting and throwing things at the police. What caused the riots? The Prots were weren't allowed to celebrate their victories over the Catholics in front of a Catholic church.

As for the Hungarians, it's a miracle they survived the "guardianship" of their Soviet "friends". They are a brave people.
