Remarks from Arizona
Some of you may know that Arizona's Republican Governor Jane "Attila the" Hull was one of the first to come out for Dubya despite strong lobbying and potential political fallout from the McCain twits. Hull was spoken of as a possible embassador to Mexico. Also, Arizona's elected GOP head of schools (can't recall the title,) Lisa Graham-Keegan was not only touted in a column by George Will last summer, but was interviewed for the Secretary of Education spot (I think Keegan did the Arizona PC thing and supported McCain).
According to a conservative newspaper columnist from Arizona's Mesa Tribune (Betsy Finger "Finger Pointing"), Both Hull and Keegan have drastically fallen from favor and are in the outs with the Bush camp.
Why? It was said that both Hull and Keegan were not as conservative as they were earlier billed (even by Arizonans). In the last six months both have been throwing money at "problems" left and right. Both supported Voter Initiatives which significantly raised taxes (school and Cardinals football stadium) among others. Keegan's mishandling of manditory testing blew up in her face. Baggage Dubya didn't need.
Looks like Dubya and his people are sticking to their conservative guns. Let's keep contact with them to encourage them to continue.
