Frenchman wants to import WWII guns

A coworker of mine wants to import some WWII era family guns. He's a French chef who has lived in the US for over 30 years. (I think he's a US citizen). He has little gun knowledge but these guns mean a lot to him. They belonged to his grandfather who fought in the French Resistance. Supposedly some of the guns were hidden behind a false wall during the war.

He also has some war artifacts he wants to donate the the museum in New Orleans. Does anyone know what I should tell him?
 
I imagine the museum would have some knowledge and be willng to help. Perhaps he could arrange the transfer to be executed in France and then it falls to the Museum's to arrange the import.

For guns he wants to keep for himself for sentimental (or even practical) reasons, the BATF&E's mandate is not just to harass gun owners, but to help them. Contact BATF&E to see what is required.

Just thoughts off the top of my head. I am no expert, but seeing no one else responding yet, I thought I would make my meager contribution.

p.s. It is heartening to know of someone who honors the sacrifices of our WWII heroes.
 
If any of he guns are full automatic, importation will not be possible. Otherwise, guns in use during WWII would be in the C&R category (over 50 years old), and importation should be fairly easy.
