Freeing a REALLY tight roll pin...

OK,

I'm in the midst of disassembling my EAA Baikal SxS and after having to have my 'smith loosen the floorplate screw (MAN they are tight:eek: ), I'm now stymied by a VERY stubborn pin. This is the one that holds the hammers. I've already removed the pins that hold the sears and the cocking cams, and they were snug but not too bad. But I can't budge this one the hammers are on. Is it tapered, and I'm going in the wrong direction or something?

Sheesh..I like to tinker as much as the next guy, but I've got to get 'em apart first!

Thanks.

Are you using a roll pin punch? With the little nipple on the end?

If you're not, you may be forcing it even more tightly into the frame and defeating yourself.

Ditto on Mike's post. I had the same problem replacing a set of sights on my Dan Wesson 715-2. I was using a normal punch on a roll pin, and just ended up expanding the pin. Bought a set of roll pin punches from Brownells for about $15 and knocked the same pin out in about 3 taps. They're well worth the money.

Well, no I was using a flat ended punch, since I wasn't aware of such a thing as a roll pin punch. Of course this worked for the other two, so I thought I was OK, but obviously NOT. Looks like a trip to the Brownells site to buy a set of roll pin punches.

Many thanks, gents. I knew you'd come through for me.
