freedoms lost

Ladies, Gentlemen and Sundry:

I may be wrong here, I have been wrong before. It strikes me however, that if we do not decisively stop the current anti-gun bandwagon, in the House of Representatives, and make the stop stick, then the rights and freedoms that we had, note the past tense, will be rights and freedoms that we perhaps didn't deserve, having failed to properly defend them.

For current or ex English majors amongst readers, excuse the run-on sentence. I tend to get long winded, and the foregoing is about as tight as I can make it.
