Freedom Arms 454 83 premier

Um, how about some more info?

1970 mustang - good paint - 351 - $8,000 - buy or pass?

5 words is not enough for anyone to advise or for anyone to make a good decision.

That seems like a good deal for a premier grade. If that's one of your dream guns(it is one of mine), and you have the means to buy it, I'd go for it. They are beautiful guns.

You can shoot 45 Colts out of it too. Some people don't recommend it, but if you clean it well, you won't have any problems. Also, if you reload, there are reduced 454 loads to tame the beast. Fully loaded 454s definitely have some snort to them.

Its a fair deal as stated but this is a low demand gun. Often times used they are more than $1300 but there isn't a strong demand for them either and so they don't sell too quickly. I had one and traded it for a H&K MK 23 in the box. Here is the one I had, it had a magnaport, leupold 2x scope and some other stuff with it. I think I paid $1555 for it but I got all of that stuff with it including 454 dies, brass, shoulder holster, scope with mount and rings, airport carry case.

Why buy it then?

Exactly.
I read they have the recoil of a .458 Winchester magnum rifle which I am familiar with. Doesn't sound like fun to me.

I've talked myself out of this one.

Thats a smokin deal on that gun and its worth every penny of it. I paid 1400 for my used Field Grade 83.

Too much recoil? How about approaching it from the lower end instead of getting the hottest ammo you can for it. :D

If you don't reload (start) shoot 45 Colts through it until you get used to it. If you do reload, you don't have to load all bear stomper loads in it. I have a lot of fun shooting my 454 with cast lead 325 gr SWCs in it, but they're not all loaded to 1400 fps.
