First let me start by saying that this site is a hobby by a couple of programmers and I. We are making 0 money off of it and are paying for the servers/hosting/ etc.. entirely out of our own pocket. There is not a single ad or even a donate button on the site. It is a free tool for other gun enthusiast.

About 2 years ago I wanted to create a way to quickly find the cheapest price on any gun I wanted. I was lucky enough to find some extremely talented programmers to help me out here locally. So after a long time testing and grabbing some good deals for ourselves :) , we are ready to release it to everyone right in time for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. We hope you guys enjoy it, its been fun!
The url is www.gunwatcher.com the site is COMPLETELY FREE.

how it works: You type in the gun you want and it searches dozen's of gun stores, AS WELL as auctions ending with 6 hours, or auctions with a Buy it Now. It returns these results in a table and you can quickly click a link to go straight to the page. you can also use the "watch this gun" feature. This allows you to save that model to your "watch list" and everytime you login you can quickly check the current cheapest price of all of your saved guns. It will let you know if the price has raised or lowered since the last time you checked.

I have put more hours than i can count into this project along with a few other programmers. We love any feedback good or bad, just use the contact us link on the page. If you guys like the website please tell your friends, family, social media, forums, etc.. We appreciate any help we can get! Hope you guys enjoy the site, and go save yourself some money!

we really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to email people and let them know about it. You have no idea how much this helps us. The hardest part we face as a small team is getting the word out about it. We aren't apart of more than a couple forums and there are 100's out there.

Wow at first I thought this we a drive by Ad posted by another website like Gunbot but I tried it out and it worked already, even on a hard to find gun.

To be 100% honest I feel like I am cheating a little because I work in a gun shop.

But I can tell you already I am texting my buddies about it as I am typing this.

Thanks for your dedication.

Looks like good work. Are you using algorithms or anything for populating the information or relying solely on yourselves for posting?

I assume you are familiar with slickguns.com - what was it that you found lacking on slickguns that provoked you to develop your own site?

(I'm a Linux server admin and semi web developer myself)

The database guy came up with some amazing algorithms. It blew a way what we had previously came up with. The program that brings in the data is well over 10,000 lines of code. We were lucky enough to find him locally as he had previously worked for a decent size web search engine in the early 2000's that failed so he had a ton of experience with that kind of stuff. He also helped with the actual search algorithms you see on the search page to filter out bad data. He is still tuning it but has done amazing work for the team. The code blew us away, on a 2gb ram 2 core server the database was able to take almost 700 concurrent users searching every second in our stress test before finally failing.

I have heard of slickguns but i hated that it was user submitted and the fact that it didn't really tailor to me. If i wanted a springfield xds i would have to wade through pages of pistols i don't care about every day looking for one to pop up so i could jump on it before it expired. Even when one did, this still wasn't even guaranteed to be the actual lowest price, since a dealer could simply be submitting his own shops price. It also didn't take into account auctions, where A TON of good deals can be found. Hope this anwered your question!

Awesome. It did. Thanks for the information. I think the only things I would like to see added if possible would be categories.

So say I'm looking for a handgun, but not necessarily any specific model... I just want to browse around to see what's out there for decent prices - or price ranges perhaps.

Looks like you guys are doing good work. I'll continue to check it out and use it. Thanks again.
