Free Pistol Competition (Olympic Style)

Does anyone know of locations where the Olympic Style FREE PISTOL matches might be held?

These are 50m competitions and sound like they could be a LOT of fun.
 
There are several ranges in NJ and DE that hold FP matches - where are you located?

Free pistol

The NRA publishes a monthly called "Shooting Sports". All registered matches in the country are listed every month in the back of it. Free pistol matches are virtually always registered.

A few members have free pistols, but we do not currently have fp matches.
Great place to train though (out doors) and try other disciplines.

Free Pistol Competition--Live in Fort Myers

I live in SW Florida.

Own an old Hi-Standard, which was one of the pistols the Olympians used at the time I was told. Purchased back in mid 1960s. Was stored for perhaps 35 years until we got out CCW permits, bought new self defense handguns, and I came across this old one. Fortunately, it had been pretty well preserved--a little rust, but a good cleaning and took it to the range, and it worked.

Remarkably well. Very accurate little pistol.

Just this week I came across the Free Pistol information. Sounds like it could be a LOT of fun. Thinking it would be a good reason to purchase a modern Free Pistol which can be extremely accurate. The competitive part sounds good to me, but the main competition would be to improve a personal "best."

I'd consider driving across the state, perhaps once a month, to do a competition if there were some people that would be interested.

Or better yet, perhaps there is a club in SW Florida where such a competition could be started. If not on a 50 meter range, even an indoor range would work for starters.

Let's see what develops on this thread and go from there.

A fellow that I used to shoot with - a master class Bullseye competitor - used to shoot the occasional Free Pistol match with his High Standard. I did also, though I used a ten inch Falcon barrel for those matches. It was great fun. Another fellow uses a Thompson Contender with a .22 barrel and finer aftermarket sights.
You have to load rounds one at a time in a Free pistol match. That is a little more of a task with a H-S than it is with a Hammerli or a Pardini FP.
