Free guns & Ammo!

Well not really I do have to give them back . :) I was just given two rifles & two handguns for the Kentucky National Gaurd State shooting team. They also gave me 2600 rounds of ammo & cleaning supplies!! This is way cool !!!
This is the first time I have shot an M-14 and now I think I will have to buy one. Does anyone know the details ( I will call the NRA ) about the guns sold by the Civilian Marksmanship Program. I called a few years back and they said U had to be a member of a shooting club to buy a rifle. Are they still selling M1 & M14's? Would this qualify as a shooting club? I have to give the guns back after nationals :(

I don't think you can get a M-14 through CMP, formerly DCM. Since all M-14s were capable of full auto fire, even if they are converted to semi-auto only, BATF says once a machinegun always a machinegun.

I think you will have to pickup a M1A from Springfield Armory.
