The stalwart TFL members listed below have accepted a mission to increase the membership rolls at Gun Owners of America by offering sponsorships to our TFL comrades who want to join GOA but cannot due to lack of funds. To accept a sponsorship, please contact the sponsor at the top of the list.

Sponsors, please post here or e-mail me as sponsorships are awarded, so that the list remains current.

I have lost count of the number of TFL members that have been able to join GOA (and NRA) thanks to the small sacrifices of their fellows. 'Many hands make for light work.'

Anyone for a free membership to this fine organization? If already a member, consider signing up your family members, subject to each sponsor's requirements.

Good news announcements:

I received one application by e-mail, which I have forwarded to TheBluesMan for evaluation.

Forging another link in the chain, Dennis Olson offers a sponsorship. Thanks, Dennis.

Hi Guys,

I wanted to know if I could get a sponsership for GOA? I'm also a poor college student which strongly believes in our 2nd amendment right!

Thanks for the support all you guys have done for us.

I have received several offers to join GOA in the past and have never acted upon them. It's not that I have anything against GOA, in fact I believe that the more organizations we have supporting our gun rights, the better. But as an active NRA, LEAA, SAF, and CCRKBA member, I send money to several different organizations already. I am sure that I could find a little extra to join GOA also.

However, I did see Larry Pratt on Geraldo Rivera one night several months ago, along with Rep Carolyn McCarthy and another anti-gun woman, and I have to say that Pratt was unable to hold his own in the debate. Granted, Geraldo is a hostile environment for a pro-gun rights person but this is the type of debate where our spokesmen and -women have to be able to challenge the anti-gun side in a forceful manner.

People may like or not like Wayne LaPierre, but it is quite difficult for anti-gun media types to railroad or overwhelm him in one-on-one, or even two- or three-on one debates. IMHO, until GOA can get to this point, they will never be able to seriously challenge the NRA as the national voice for gun owners.

I was running around Carson City two weeks ago and my Uncle spotted "Gun Show" at the marquee of the fairground. We were en route to the range by the dump (site of a TFL gathering) and decided that since we were early, why not? So, I parked the car and admission was $5. However, Sheriff Richard Mack who had helped to overturn the Brady mandate that local law enforcement be required to do background checks was present. If you joined the GOA ($20), you not only got into the gunshow, but had a choice of a GOA T-shirt or his book, "From My Cold Dead Hands." Got the book and had the good Sheriff autograph it for me. Spent two hours at the show (it wasn't big but we got drawn into some lengthy conversations) before finally heading out to the range.

I've been wanting a GOA membership for quite awhile, but haven't done so because my wife will kill me if I put another charge on my credit card. :(

I don't want anybody else to foot the bill, but I do have 25 bucks in my paypal account. If any of you kind individuals would be willing to accept payment that way I would be most grateful for your assistance in becoming a member.

I don't even know what that is. But we've been sponsoring folks all spring/summer. I don't know who's up next, but they would be more than happy to sign you up. (I was sponsored to the NRA last spring, when I couldn't afford it. Thanks again Slowpoke!)

BTW, I am working at home again, so contact be via DJOLSON@PRESSENTER.COM for any sponsorship request.

I had heard that Pratt might go on Geraldo not long ago but never heard that it went through.
Would you please give an exact date as to when this debate was I would like to order this from GOA.
This would be the first time Ive ever seen
Pratt ousted by some anti's or outgunned.
I havent seen Lapierre in many debates.
Ive only had to see one interview of him to know that hes if anything a fasaud of a defender of our RKBA.
While he was on air he listed a number of Gunlaws that our 'leader' the NRA supported
as 'common sense' gun legislation.
I dont support compromise its not american.
Ive never heard Pratt or any GOA rep state their support of Hitlers legacy gun control.
But hey keep sending them money if thats what you support.
I send GOA JPFO and JPFO new lobby CCOPs money every month because they oppose legislation not view it as an answer to the battle.
I feel sorry for people so blind with publicity stunts that they cant see when their being sold out.

Ruger45,
I wish that I could tell you the exact time and date of every pro- and anti-gun TV report and debate that I have seen, but they all tend to run together after a year or so.

If you are really interested then call GOA and ask them for it anyway. It was to the best of my recollection, sometime last spring. I am sure they will be willing to give you whatever they have on it.

LaPierre has been on NBC Today several times, he was on with the Reverend Jesse Jackson (spoken in Rush Limbaugh tones) several months back on a Sunday morning show, plus others. Whether you have personally seen him or not is not really relevant.

I assume that you meant fraud. Your call.

I hate to assume things about other people, but when presented with vague, blanket statements such as this one has to try to draw some reasoned inferences. From what I have seen, the NRA has tried to oppose laws which affect honest citizens while supporting laws designed to combat criminals. One example that seems to have been condemned on this board is Project Exile. Why anyone would want to oppose a project to remove armed felons from the street is beyond me. But then, I also do not see a conspiracy behind every tree. There is absolutely no dichotomy between supporting 2nd Amendment rights for honest citizens while denying violent felons the right and ability to possess firearms without harsh penalty.

But hey keep sending them money if thats what you support.

That is good and I congratulate you for supporting certain organizations you feel are doing a good job. However, I will refrain from insulting your choices.

You are of course free to feel sorry for whomever you wish, whether your assumptions about those people are correct or not.

Me, I tend to feel sorry for those members of the firearms-owning community who are so blinded by the righteousness of their own opinions that they attack others within our community and divide us. For I fear that these people will do more to end our Second Amendment freedeoms than all the liberals fighting against us.

Wasn't it Benjamin Franklin who said, "We must all hang together or we will most assuredly all hang seprately."?

The bill was called Hr1501.
Contained atleast half a dozen new gunrestictions.
I asked my congressmen to vote against it.
He stated that he supported the bill because the NRA was.
Ed Bryant (R-TN)
Wayne Lapierre made his notorious sell out speech on NBC today the host was Katie Couric.
You can look the list of them up under the
Neal Knox alerts (www.nealknox.com)
and should subscibe to them.
As they tried to get me to rejoin I stated numerous times that I cant support those that support such infringements on my rights
such as in Hr1501.
No one wrote me back to denie it.
Yes the NRA claims to oppose gunlaws to their members but when they get passed they want them enforced ---project exile.
Yes we hear armed felons... did you know an armed felon can be someone who forged a check 20 years back.
When they get the exile bill passed and all the different states like NY and MA get their money to 'enforce these gunlaws' do you really think these anti-gun liberals are going to be speding their time telling their police to go afer criminals.
I can post the copy of most of Lapierre's speech here it will contain the date and you can order the whole tape from the NRA.
What never heard Lapierre state how the NRA supports so called 'gun free school zones'
ya know like the one that worked to well in protecting the columbine killers.
I dont support gun free anything.
Ever hear Lapierre or any of the NRA reps blast the 'assault weapons ban'?

Excuse me for interrupting, but this thread is for giving away free GOA memberships, not NRA bashing.

Please feel free to start another thread if you would like to continue this pummelfest.

BluesMan,

You have a good point. Even the best-intentioned threads can go a bit astray due to the nature of the subject and the strong opinions and personalities we encounter in this subject.

My original point (since I appear to have created the divergence point) was not to "bash" GOA but point out that as a national organization their intentions are good but they still have a long way to go to match the stature of the NRA. Anyone who may be "funds limited" should consider this when deciding how to spend their hard-earned money.

I will refrain from pursuing the GOA-NRA debate further in this thread and rather watch for it to surface (as we know it will) somewhere else.

Thanks.

About six weeks ago, when my financial troubles really started to escalate, someone here sponsored me for GOA membership. His first name is Joe. I haven't received any GOA materials as of yet, Joe. Just thought I'd keep you advised. I haven't thanked you here on the forum, partly out of embarrasment, so I'd like to do so now. Thank you very much.

And I think Larry Pratt is a fine spokesman for RKBA.

Want to send a message to Bush? Sign the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/monk/petition.html and forward the link to every gun owner you know.

On that note.
Monkeyleg 4-6 weeks is the average time to receive a membership packet from any of the
pro-freedom lobbies.
But mine came pretty quick bout 4 weeks I beleive.
You will now be told about the republicans
that sell you out when it comes to a gun vote
like Lott,Hatch and Mccain not just told
liberal pressure and recent shootings
gave the libs too much public support.
