Franchise vs Weatherby

Earlier today I was looking around at one of our local gun shops. They had two new 28 gauge shotguns on display. They were both semi autos. One was a Weatherby and one was a Franchi.

Its a small shop, so seeing even one 28 gauge shotgun is unusual, seeing those two was surprising.

If you were going to chose one of those shotguns to buy, which one would it be? Why?

Tossup!

Okay, I have owned and enjoyed a Franchi AL-48 in 20 guage for years. It is very light and has been a great bird gun (when we still had quail in my area) and rabbit gun or walking up the bunnies. It is recoil operated and while you don't notice it during a day's hunting, shooting 2 or 3 rounds of trap will leave you a little sore.

A friend of mine has had a weatherby for a couple of years now (also in 20 guage). It is definitely heavier to carry around and being gas operated, is softer on the recoil.

For me, to go hunting and hiking around I'll take my Franchi but for the clay fields, I'll take my buddy's Weatherby.
