i heard that franchi guns are knock offs of benelli shotguns. is this true? are they reliable and is the quality just as good as benelli shotguns?

Not the same, but a fair shotgun for the money. A friend has one of the semi's in 20 ga. and it works most(99.5%) of the time. Also it is very light and makes a good field gun.

Beretta owns Franchi, Benelli, Stoeger and Tikka.

Franchi I12 and Diamond shotguns use Benelli's inertia system. The 712 and 720 are gas guns.

Benelli is top of the line. The Franchi is the middle class. Stoeger 2000 series are cheap due to be manufactured in Turkey, but still using the Benelli inertia system.

The newer Franchi semi-auto offerings do have Benelli interia recoil systems in them now. Not entirely sure if they are drop in replacable.

My neighbor has one.

It's beautful.

It didn't jam at all, and the recoil reduction was significant (especially when compared to the recoil of my 5 lb H&R single shot).

I say you should get it.
