if one were to replace the frame of a S&W "Shorty Forty" what would be the correct frame to replace it with?
it is a peformance center semi-auto with little to no information to be found about it. if anyone has a link with info please post in addition to any knowledge you may have.
thank you very much.

Shorty forty, what is this? Are we talking a 3rd Generation S&W semi-auto, like a 4006 or 4046?

In any case, just a quick tip with regards to "replacing" a frame: A frame is the part of the firearm with the serial number, so as far as the ATF and the Feds are concerned, a frame IS a firearm.

If you have a warped, cracked, broken, ugly, nonfunctional or just plain unhappy frame, and you go and buy a second frame, you now have TWO firearms according to the ATF.

So getting a hold of a replacement frame for any handgun means that you'll need to be buying a handgun, pretty much.

I'm only potsing this do you aren't surprised when you try to find PARTS and the folks selling it to you try to make you understand that you are buying a firearm and will thus need the 4473, NICS check, FFL, et all.

Anyway... if this is from the S&W Performance Center.... why on earth have you not contacted them for help?

like sevens said, the first thing to do is contact the performance center. I have dealt with s&w before and they usually get things done pretty quick.
