Hey there, I'm not real familiar with military rifles and maybe I'm crazy but here goes.......my fr8 groups great but the windage is wayyy off. The rear sight obviously can't adjust for this but something caught my eye today,( this is the maybe I'm crazy part, lol) looking down through the hole in the top of the front sight hood it looks like the post is offset from center on a threaded base. The base has 2 notches on it and looks like it may take a special tool,if so, does anyone know when I could find such a thing? I would also like to find a tool that allowed me to remove the stock, someone varnished it while still on the gun and I would like to clean it up and finish it with oil. Oh yeah and an original/semi-original sling would be nice too. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

As you saw, the FR-8 front sight is eccentric-

You need a CETME sight adjustmet tool, or you can use a cut-off wheel to modify a suitably sized screwdriver.

Apex Gun Parts often has them in stock.

CETME sling or H&K will work, I just use a GI sling with a MASH or HK hook.
Can't really give advice on the varnish, aside from suggesting perhaps an citric acid based paint stripper and washing the action clean as soon as it parts from the stock.

Try Citristrip (Lowes, Home depot, etc.). It will remove the varnish, without damaging the finish underneath. http://www.citristrip.com/

Also, remember to loosen the small screw in the front of the sight before adjusting.

Thanks for the tip,and yes I noticed the front screw, problem now is that the companys that I have found that have the CETME sight tool don't ship to Canada. I'm going to try to make one.
