Four-digit Mossberg 500 serial number

I have an old Mossberg 500 with a four digit serial number (7060) and was wondering if anybody could help with figuring out how old it is.

According to my dad, it's at least 35 years old. It was apparently a police shotgun until they knocked the bead off somehow and sold it to a pawn shop where he found it. It still shoots perfectly.
 
The Mossberg 500 was first introduced in 1961, and the first factory produced riot guns were made in the mid-1960s. It might be the company can help you date the gun more precisely from the serial number, I don't know.
