Found another YT channel. Opinions?

I've been watching a few videos by a guy who has a channel of the same name: Paul Harrel.

I actually quite liked his style and content even if the vids are a little less glitsy in production than some more well-known channels, but the content seems good to me.

So far his productions seem to take a pragmatic look at some common topics or debates to shed a bit of light. One seems to be the cost-benefit ratio of some premium SD ammo types and if they are worth the added investment.

I wondered if anyone had seen them and what they thought.

I've seen some of them. Nothing wrong with his presentation at all. Definitely not one of the know-all Bubba's producing a lot of these. Haven't seen the SD ammo critiques, but my philosophy is you only need one box in your lifetime. The rest is practice ammo.

The general message I get from him is that if you practice with what you plan to defend yourself, it will cost a lot if you use the premium SD ammo.

Therefore decide if the premium SD ammo gives you sufficiently more to warrant the cost of that one box plus the hundreds you'll use in practice towards competency with you SD weapon.

His take on it is between things like muzzle-flash and expansion, the premium grade is better, just not better enough to justify the massive price difference.

That kind of real-world pragmatism is refreshing IMO.

I think it's important to make sure your self defense ammunition functions correctly in your firearm but I don't think it's necessary to use it for every practice session. I also don't think you are obliged to carry lead round nose cartridges in your .38 even if that is the ammunition you most commonly shoot during practice.
