found an unusual Sig 220

Is there a Sig specialist around? Or a Sig board like Glocktalk?
I've found a 220 in 9mm and 7.65 [.30 Luger].

It had the full wraparound walnut grips and a gorgeous highly polished slide that is matted [or smoked] on top to prevent glare. The floorplate of the 7.65 magazine matches the polish of the slide. The frame is black. The slide is marked "Made in Germany" and it comes with a blue plastic box.
I know it's a 220, but is it common? I can't find one like it anywhere on the web after a week of searching.........

That is an early gun and .30 Luger is a rare caliber. 9mm is not too uncommon. This pistol should have the heel butt mag release, none of the 220A's have been made in this grade as far as I know. This pistol was imported in the early 1980's by Browning as the BDA in 9mm, .38 Super, and .45 ACP. As I said, the .30 Luger is rare, and the guns are a higher grade, not common.

Was just reading about this last night in Guns Magazine, Weapons for LE.

The 220 was originally manufactured in those two calibers for distribution in Europe. The 7.65 was for sale in countries that do not allow possession of military-type ammo.

It was not until SIG began US ditribution that they offered the 220 in .45, and even .38 Super (That was a dismal failure for sales).

My guess is that you have one of those European models.

The top of the slide was probably glass-beaded (very fine abrasion).

I have had this process applied to several firearms in the past.

If your pistol has two barrels, one for 9mm and one for 7.65mm, this combination was very poular in Switzerland because their Model 1900 Luger service pisto; was a 7.65mm and a number of highly accurate target loads are available in Switzerland in this caliber.
I gave also seen SIG P210s in 7.65mm and alsoboxed sets consisting of an adjustable sight P210 with two barrels. one 7.65mm and the other 9mm.
