force multiplying

Hello. New to tfl.

Question. I have been shooting for years. There seems to a commonly accepted approach to firearms design and development. There are also some things which are a little extreme, or unrefined as of yet.
Who believes in force multiplying?
handgun design (in this case) should be incorporating at least, off the shelf technology to give yourself an advantage over what is normal, or most common on the street without compromising durability. Things like muzzle control devices like compensators and the new ultra compact red dot sights. I for one like to use what technology is availiable to gain any advantage possible as long as it does not compromise fighting efficiency.
I carry a customized sti 1911 (single stack, polymer frame) with the slide cut to commander length with government length schuemann tribrid II barrel (ported and compensated). I also use the new version tasco optima red dot sight. I have this chambered in .38super and use dillon 10rd magazines. my carry round is cor-bon 125gr jhp bullet at 1,350, but it moves at 1,400fps out of my gun. I shoot over 500 rounds a week and in over 20,000 rounds (I have not had this gun for a year yet) fired I have had one failure to feed (hang-up after 700 rounds fired in one session on the break-in period)
In all my testing and drill work, this weapon has greatly improved all of my range drills in speed and accuracy. It simply increases efficiency. I think if you can articulate to a jury (been there) why you carry what you carry you will be fine. Of course, don't tell them it simply makes you more efficient, but maybe, more safe, since you are better able to hit what you aim at.
I also use a very relaxed ipsc (some of you are crapping your pants right now) holster. a hellweg k-series holster (good retention) in the ipsc position and I don't have any trouble drawing while seated. I also don't have to worry about bending over. The weapon fits right in the natural bend, or crease of my upper leg (appendix). I use a relaxed, low key hikers vest without all the damn pockets to cover everything up.
Who else out there is progressive?
Who else out there is willing to push the edge of technology?
yeah, right... if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
This is b.s. what do you think will win. a sherman tank from WWII, or a abrams M1A2 with crews of the same skill?
Yeah I use a 1911, but I try to upgrade that design whenever something viable comes out. Something that reduces another part maybe, now that is one more part that can't break...so I am progressive.
Technology marches on, who goes with it?! ;)

The Abrams will win with not a second thought. The Sherman's gun wont penetrate the Abrams armor.

Force Mutiplication is a Military term and I dont see it with any crossover to handguns...
You take a new fangled fella with his flash new Steyr M40 and an equally skilled guy with his 1911 - well - thats debatable, but i'ld put my money on the 1911.

Thanks George. That is one of the reasons why I use the 1911 platform. Yes, Force multiplying is a military term, but it can be applied to anything that can gain an advantage (technical, or tactical) over an opponent. That can apply even to the usage of your alloted time for training vs. allocation of dollars for your training (as a civilian). You can make it as efficient as you wish and have the discipline for. This allows you to create an advantage in your ability to apply force when the time comes. There are many ways to apply the force multiplication factor and weapons advancements are only one of them.

thanks.
