Forbidden CC carry in NC

I read somewhere that in NC it is illegal to cc in a place that sells alcohol. Is this any place that sells alcohol (like a convenient store) or just places where you can consume purchased alcohol. I have a GA cc permit and am working in NC for the next 6 months

It USED to be true that carry in places serving alcohol was forbidden. Not anymore (the law was changed not long ago). So, carry in restaurants, bars, etc. is OK. However, alcohol CONSUMPTION when carrying is strictly FORBIDDEN - EVERYWHERE.

Carry in places that SELL alcohol is also legal - EXCEPT state run liquor stores (ABC stores). State ABC stores are the ONLY places allowed to sell hard liquor in NC....and they are STATE property.....so carry there (as with other state properties such as gov't buildings)....is FORBIDDEN.

Carry in stores that sell beer and wine is legal.

I wonder if it's interpreted like here in California. . .

In California, you can't carry in an establishment whose primary purpose is to serve alcohol - i.e. a bar. Restaurants, convenience stores, etc. are okay.

As others have said, on Oct 1st it was cleared to carry in places that serve alcohol, but thee ccw'r can't drink.

It has opened a significant number of places our family can go and eat.
