If you converted a gen4 23 to a 9mm and changed out the trigger mechanism with ejector as well as the barrel and recoil spring than my question is.

Can you put the 40 barrel back in and the 40 recoil spring and shoot 40's with the 9mm ejector and trigger mechanism?

The Glock 23 I owned, using a 9mm barrel, required only a change of barrel to function properly. (I also had a .357 SIG barrel, but never tried it.)

I know that this isn't the "Gen 4" specific answer you are looking for...

I did the 9mm conversion barrel (Lone Wolf) on both my 23 and 27 (both gen 3).

All I did was use 9mm magazines.

They always worked fine. No problems.

And as far as I know, even on the gen 4 you don't need to change out anything other than the barrel...

The other brands of conversion barrels all work the same to the best of my knowlege...

I carry a 27 to 9mm conversion. I change only the barrel on the gun. Using magazines for the correct caliber has a minimal benefit. Nothing else needs to be changed.
