For the cops...What if the SHTF?

What I meant is if TSHTF for the cops..

would they come get 'em in compliance with the feds, resign, hole up just like us, join us, or what?

Most successful discussions here begin by clearly stating the topic, presenting facts or opinions and asking for the opinions of others.

Are you asking for the opinions of TFL members who are officers of the law as to what they would do if ordered to enter a home for the sole purpose of confiscating firearms?

Are you asking LEOs what they would do if a total meltdown of our society as we know it happened nationwide all at once?

Again -

What would LEOs do if government turned on gun owners and demanded the confiscation of all firearms?
What would LEOS do if it were a total meltdown of society?
I think those two might start a discussion?

Depends on how far down the road of indoctrination. At the moment there are likely too many un-reprogrammed peace officers in the average agency. A few more years down the road things might be different.

What would LEOS do if it were a total meltdown of society?

This is easy; look after their own hides, family and property like everyone else. This has been clearly demonstrated historically, a good example being the L.A. riots.

Sorry I made it such a confusing topic.

If I was a LEO, and the 2nd was repealed, I would state my position and resign. I don't want to find myself at the buisness end of a .410 or 12ga.

Agreed. Koreans defended themselves with Home Defence Rifles. But what if the SWAT takes home their M4 and keeps it... :p

Couple points 1st.

1) firearms haven't been outlawed

2) that isn't imminent (in fact gun rights has made headway, strongly, in many areas [which is good])

3) "Cops" don't go door to door right now (looking for things that are outlawed).

That said, what I'd expect is not mass resignations, but mass ignoring of that speculated law occuring.

In a 'end of the world' scenario they'd do what everyone else is doing, the best they can.

No you wouldn't....If you're so scared of being on the wrong end of a gun that you'd quit your job at the prospect, you'd have no business being a policeman in the first place, whether the threat was from a guy holding up a liquor store, or a guy in a house that you were about to serve a warrant on. As far as homeowners in the suburbs holing up and holding the police off with shots fired, fat chance. Everyone's a hero until it comes time for the metal to meet the meat.

Thanks for the numbers baddone

4. What is being so blithly talked about is civil war.
We are not at that break point, and hopefully it will never become so...
And even if it did, all the surmising (including mine) is likely of little value. What would occur, say in a city like LA, or...
Denver, would be impossible to guess. And isolations like ND and Montana, cut off from fuel and power,
everybody would likely be burning everything they could get ahold of just to stay warm.
Then the disease factor, the last civil war, more of the combatants likely died of disease...than minie
balls. Now compound that into cities with 3+million people, and a collapsed infrastructure.
Very possible the last stand someone made in SHTF, would be chattering from the cold, and collapsing
into fevers.
Possible that, whether or not the cops jump in or out, would be the least of the problems.
And anyway, if it did go gasp!, SHTF, likely every member of this forum would have been taken into
preventative detention long beforehand. So I guess, LE or no, all TFL's contingent might be doing is watching it...
...all (for a while), on cable.
