For The Children?

The airbag, which you as the owner, can be fined under federal law if you remove it from your own car, has killed 99 children since 1993 { source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration }.

Compare that to 82 children killed in school shootings over the same time period {source: National School Safety Center }.

If the public and our elected officials are SO concerened about the safety of our children, why are they not pushing bans & restrictions on airbags? If, it is because they save adult lives -- the same thing is true of firearms.

Good point.Unfortunately the antis know this can be proven so they stay away form it like a porcupine in a nudist colony.

An interesting comparison (I thought the number of deaths were much higer).

But you must point out the folly of the argument, since it is the anti-gun argument. The antis argue that guns should be banned because they cost so much in medical care (about 1% of the total annual medical expenditures, btw). But they ignore the benefits of armed citizens.

No economist worth his abacus would remove the benefit portion from the cost/benefit analysis.

So, just as we should ask how many lives (or injuries) were saved and lost to airbags, we should ask how many lives were saved, rapes prevented, muggers repelled, criminal activity reduced due to armed citizens.
