For all you cop Bashers out there

I am sitting here waiting for the movers, getting ready to PCS back stateside and i thought I would share some pictures of true "Cop Bashing"

"Civil Gatherings" like these happen quite regularly here in the land of the morning calm. The "Civil Gatherers" us pipes and bamboo poles (really nasty once they splinter at the front, they aim for the mouth and eyes), and generally put some of the police in the hospital (of course some of them go too).....then being the good communists they are, they complain about police abuse of powers ETC:barf:

The police no longer use tear gas, some of you who have been to korea might remember the smell of tear gas on the subways etc...Now they just use raw man/woman power, shields, riot gear and batons.....

FWIW these pictures are from demonstrations outside Camp Humphreys, opposing the expansion of the camp. Basically the majority of the protestors believe Korea would be better off if USFK was not here.....The Farmers who accepted payment for the land under emminent domain were definitly well compensated, there was one who recieved the equivilant of US 333,000 for about a 3/4 acre parcel, now that is some good farmland.

I really forgot how much I dislike communists......

Pro US groups are starting to rally also, just like they did last September (Antis wanted to remove and destroy the Macarthur statue in Incheon)

To keep this firearm related, what would use if you faced 10,000 or so antis/communists that didn't like you?

Err... picture do not want to post....

looks like the handful of protesters are in for a booty whupping......

When I was in Korea in 87 for Team Spirit thay had these buses of riot police we would see from time to time. Most of the ones in protest groups were students everybody else was to busy trying to make a living..lol

In fact we went to Seoul for a few days R&R, I got a phone call from my wife asking about the big riots she saw on TV in Seoul...A group of us had spent the day doing the rounds of Seoul and didnt see any protest. I asked someone at the provost marshal's ofice and they just laughed said it was a couple of hundred college students...the news here made it look like there were thousands....lol

Maybe they should just unleash some ROK troops on em instead of the police

Eghad,

The first link was last July, the second one was May 4th, basically on the 4th they evicted the remaining protestors and tore down the school they used as a headquarters....Simultaneously ROK Engineers put up a 29KM triple strand concertina fence around the land and set up a little tent city....The 5th of May the protestors brok through the police lines an clashed with the ROK Soldiers. It was not pretty, they had to airlift about a dozen or so to local hospitals, they had no riot gear at all, just what they could scounge........Holy Mom's are Pissed batman, the mothers of the Soldiers threatened to demonstrate... it was a crazy few days. Actually the protestors lost a lot of support after that one.

The significance of these protests is there proximity to Camp Humphreys. Last July they tore down parts of the fence. The government usually does nothing against the violent protestors, but now that the MND is on the land they say they will prosecute the violent protestors if they come onto the land again (2yr minimum sentence if found guilty by the MND)

College protestors are very much the norm, and many of them do not even know what they are protesting about. This next link shows them getting ready the night before, notice the overturned SOJU bottle:D

To keep it gun related...

If 10K communists were coming and I was afraid for my life I would want a Dillon Minigun, with the 4500 round (or whatever it is) box of ammo. FMJ ammo so you get a couple per shot. Would be best shot from ground level to make the most of the magazine and pass through shots. One pass across the front of the mass should be enough......

NWC,

That first photo looks like a battle scene from 'Braveheart'. :D

I see that things haven't changed much around Cp. Humphreys. The demonstration looks like the area near the CPX area.

I was on stand-by for riot control at Humphreys my last three weeks prior to DEROS. Most of our protesters were students from the university in Chonan wanting to re-unite the country.

Handy,

One of the many groups attending was the Hanchongryon. Basic link on them.

http://www.answers.com/topic/hanchongryun?method=22

They believe in reunification, under north Korean rule. Only about 100-200 people at the last rally actually lived in the disputed area, out of 8000-10000. Now I fully believe in the right to "civil gatherings" and free speech, hold hands in a human chain around the area, hold candlight vigils etc. The violence has to stop though.

to be fair and balanced, here is a link from supporters of the farmers

HS I like the way your thinking there :D

Steve, Daechu-ri is turning into the new Gwangju (or Kwangju for those of us who are old school) I am up in warrior country, we generally don't see too much up here, unless Joe does something stupid. Did the police still use tear gas when you were here? You could always tell who was coming from a demo when they got on the subway.
