Hmm. Not an M1 Carbine, but a 1945 BSA No5Mk1 Jungle Carbine. I use it to remind me that lightweight carbines are a delight to carry around, and that the payback is a sore shoulder from stout recoil!

Greetings,

What is a good first carbine for a handgunner in 9mm or .45 ACP? Interested in quality firearms only and Weaver scope mounts. I have a .45 ACP carbine conversion unit for one of my 1911's and it is just a blast to shoot at targets.

Regards to all,

Ledbetter

I've killed many coons and possums with 22s and I think a 9mm would be to much on them, tears up the fur.And in my state you can't hunt furbearers(coons, possums, foxes, bobcats) with any centerfire round other than a shotgun. If I did have a carbine chambered for a pistol round I would use it as a camp gun and for home defense.

This is my 6520 Government Carbine:

It is 6lb of pure butt kicking firepower. I use it to put holes in things near and far.

I have a Ruger Mini14 carbine, Ruger 10/22 carbine, and a Daisy 2202 carbine. They are used for self defense as well as varmint hunting. :)

I have a Rossi M92 .357Mag that I use mainly as a camp gun and I just picked up a Ruger PC9 because I got a decent price for it. Not sure what role I'll have for it yet.

Let's see... I have a couple of M1 Carbines, a Carbon-15 carbine, a couple of AR's, and a Winchester M94 carbine. I think my carbine bin is full. :)

m-1 carbine is the only one I have right now,
it was paw-paw's gun (yes I'm in Tn.)lol,
in great shape and a joy to shoot.

Well, there's the Bushmaster Shorty, the Marlin M45 Camp Carbine and the Winchester 94 Trapper in .45Colt. All three get used regularly and are great ways to "turn money into noise" as Art once said. I consider each of them defensive weapons, whether against quadripeds or bipedal borders although the 94 makes a dandy hunting gun inside 100 yds with the right load.

I always thought it a little strange that Ruger called that 9mm thing a PC carbine. I though that's what the Mini 14 was. :D

If you're not a little upset with the way the world is going, you're not paying attention.
