Psalm 144:1

Don`t mean to get into a flame war. Admittedly some of this info is third hand, but I consider the hands involved to be somewhat reliable. My sister-in-law is a mental health professional in our southeastern state. At a very recent multi-agency relief effort she was called upon to help counsel evacuees from the Katrina disaster. A Caucasian couple from NOLA were entrusted to her, and their story is something out of nightmare. It seems that they were in N.O. at a hospital with their preemie infant daughter when the hurricane occurred. The hospital arranged for the baby to be air-evacced to Children`s Hospital in Birmingham, but could make no provision for the parents and made them leave. They managed to check into a hotel, but were forced out by rising water. A passing Guard truck delivered them to the Superdome. Now for the rough stuff. As the story goes, this couple stayed for several days in the Superdome and they say that it was like this: 1.) That there was almost total darkness, and the level of violence inside the stadium was horriffic. Roving packs of gang members basically raped whoever caught their fancy, with the number of rapes being in the hundreds. 2.) That they personally witnessed a ten year old girl being raped and having her throat cut.
3.) That they were basically "adopted" by two black families and that is why they are alive today. They told of their group literally having to circle up with the children and weaker individuals in the center to fend off attackers. They slept in shifts and the lady said that each time she awoke, somebody in the group was dead or missing. 4.) That when her husband interfered and beat the stuffing out of a nice young man who was trying to beat a 90 year old woman to death with her own walker, that things really got scaryfor fear of retaliation. 5.) That crying babies were killed by those that they disturbed. 6.) That conditions were so awful that some people climbed into the upper decks of the stadium and committed suicide by jumping to their deaths.7.) That severely outnumbered police and guardsmen made absolutely no effort to keep order, mainly for fear of their own lives. 8.) That they were expressly forbidden to mention any of these occurrences to news crews that came on the scene in the following days--by threat of force! Like I said folks, third hand but related to me by someone I trust from someone who was there-make of it what you will....
