Fobus Disapointment

Today I received a Fobus holster which I ordered for a 4 inch K-Frame S&W. It sucks. What kind of a holster maker makes a holster that relies on friction to retain it, to supposedly fit both a K and L-Frame S&W?! The same holster is supposed to work for both! Insane.

My 4 inch Model-19 fits okay, except that it rattles. Forget about my 1960s Model-10 with the slim, tapered barrel. I'd be better off sticking it in my back pocket.

I plan to send it back to them tomorrow!

I like the Bianchi accumold nylon holsters for revolvers. Durability is not what I would like it to be but the paddle is comfy and secure, and the fit is just right.

Uh, unless I missed something, the only Fobus hoslters being recalled are those for the Glock pistols with a light/laser attachment. Seems the retaining strap that goes through the trigger guard has caused a few accidental discharges and are being redesigned for that reason. Haven't heard anything about Fobus holsters in general being recalled though.

I bought a Fobus (paddle) holster about 6 months ago for my Walther. What a piece of crap! Once I got the gun into the holster, a feat in and of itself - it literally took all of my strength AND BOTH HANDS to remove it, the fit was so tight!

Each time I pulled the Walther out of the plastic piece of garbage, small chunks of plastic came out with it, having been scraped from the inside of the holster from the front sight.

Unfortunately I bought the thing on eBay and couldn't return it, so I just chucked it into the junk drawer.

I sent an email to Fobus with my thoughts, but never received a response from them.

Pure garbage. :barf:

IMHO, the only thing Fobus holsters are good foris at the range. JM2CW.

As targets? :)

I have a old leather Fobus IWB holster and double mag pouch that came with my used HP. It seems to be ok. The new plastic ones look like dookie.

I have used Fobus Paddle holsters for probably 4 years. I have drawn from my .45 over 7000 times.
I have one for my J-Frame Smiths, and they snap in and out like they should. I also have one for my P32, and my G26. The G26 was overly tight at first, but is OK now.

I like leather holsters, but sometimes the paddle is very convenient. I like the holster, and have had no problems with it. It carries the gun securely, draws smoothly, and stays on very securely. I don't really need anything else.

If it does not suit you, then don't use it. But they work well for me.

I'm a leather guy at heart, but I like the Sidearmor holsters in kydex. They cost more, but in my opinion they are worth it.

If you want cheap plastic like holsters , for belt or pants clip , try Uncle Mikes Kydex line. They run about $28.00 and have two adjustable screws that go through rubber spacers near where the trigger guard would be to tighten the amount of pull needed to get the pistol out of the holster. It also has a two position belt keeper on the paddle model .The fobus line , although they have more in the left handed department , and adjustable cant stytle , they seem to wear out in use. The more the pistol goes in and out of it , the part that grabs the trigger guard wears and the pistol moves and makes more noise in the holster.
Nothing beats some of the molded nylon holsters , or the better leathers.
But for cheap , rugged use that you won't worry if it gets scratched , the kydex holsters are fine , if they make 'em in your draw and model .
My $0.02 :)
