FNX 45

Surprised myself by buying this pistol, when I'd thought the PPQ was what I wanted. Before I made the selection, I got to handle all the polymer .45's that I was interested in, and then took a look at the FNX. Felt solid, and the trigger, in dry firing at least, was very good. Hope I'm as pleased when I get ammo through it. But I wonder why I hear so little about it.

They're good pistols and excel in capacity among 45's. I find that I don't hear more about them because the PPQ, M&P, HK's, XD's, Glocks and others have been around or been mainstream for awhile now. The market is flooded these days with 45's and even though the FNX is wonderful it's main feature that overshadows the rest is it's capacity. A lot of other pistols will just feel better for the majority of people. Well at least for the civilian market that's why I feel it goes unnoticed. It's ergos are ok but not great. And the grip is fairly rough for softer hands (most people sadly)

Anywho I think it's gaining more popularity now. I see a lot of interest in them as of late on forums. I think now the guns had enough time to get exposed to the masses either through forums, friends, gun shops, ect and it really is an appealing firearm. I like them because they're DA/SA very high cap 45's. Hard to find many to equal them in that regard.

I love that "cap cap" (15 round capacity) and that "dub-dub" (double action first shot) so it makes it a perfect "nighty-night" gun (nightstand gun).

It's a winner in capacity and is deceptively light when empty. The trigger and action have a plastic feel and "twang" that make it feel like a toy, but it's got plenty of power and is extremely reliable. Overall, it's an excellent DA/SA combat pistol.

I love my FNX-45 and used it as my sidearm for a LGS I work at on Saturdays and for my bedside gun at home. With 15+1 rounds on tap and a external hammer it was just what I was looking for when I sold my G21 to my friend. It has proved highly reliable and is such a smooth and easy shooter I am glad I gave it a try. Now if FN would just make a FNX-9 longslide I would be in heaven.

Did you have any trouble getting your magazines to take all 15 rounds? I've read that loading more than 14 is difficult.

Got mine cleaned and ready to go, but we're weathered out here. Next weekend, it looks like.

Glock mags are generally the same. The springs will take a slight set with time and use and the mags will be easier to load.

It gets progressively harder after the tenth or so round. Getting that last one or two rounds in there can be a real *expletive deleted*. A reloading tool such as the Uplula makes all the difference in the world.

The tactical version makes a great accessory host.

Ive had my FNX-45 for about 5 years now. It has digested literally thousands of reloads and factory rounds, and has been 100% reliable. The sights are perfect at 25 yards. Anyone who shoots it is pleased by the way it operates. If the SHTF, and I'm cursed with a pistol in my hand, I pray its my FNX-45

I also use a Uplula for loading it, makes it alot easier until the springs get set. I still use the Uplula but can also load by hand if needed.

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the replies, and especially learning that there is an uplula. I'll get one of those. Turns out a couple guys at work have FNX 45s, too. I think I'm in good company!
