FN SPR magazines?

I cannot find any of the .308 magazines for my SPR, I have the one that came with it, and i would like to have a spare or 2. Every single site that i can find that sold them at one point online does not have them in stock, and the only ones that are available on gunbroker are more than double the price of what they were selling them retail for (were $45-$55, gunbroker has them for $98 buy it now if there are any up.)

Does anyone have any ideas on where i could get any?

The other option that i was looking at but i cant seem to find any information but vague posts about is a conversion to another type of detachable magazine by replacing the base plate/ mag well.

You're looking for the AICS bottom metal by CDi Precision. I don't think it's something you do to save money, considering that magazines run $75-80 to begin with, but I'm told they're better-quality and more easily available than FN stock ones.

As another alternative, I hear that Williams Firearms Company can convert your DBM to a floorplate model, but I'm not 100% sure how it works. I've been thinking about talking to them about it, but nothing definite yet.

that is what I had been seeing, It wasnt the saving money that i worried about as much as the availability of an extra magazine.

Just as a caveat, there is some talk on Sniper'sHide about the CDI bottom metal working better with a little relief machining on the receiver. CDI can do that for you, but it will void your warranty.

I dont believe that i have a warranty on it since i bought it used, unless they come with a limited lifetime or something...

As I remember, the SPR is warranted for life, but I don't know if the warranty follows the rifle if it's sold. If you're not 100% sure about going with the CDI bottom metal, why not give FN customer service a call tomorrow and ask? Even if you don't get through right away, they'll get back to you in very short order. Last time I had to call them, I think I was on the phone for 15 minutes or less.
