Hi guys me again i saw on a post here at TFL a company called aim surplus and they have FN HI POWERS for $375 DEALER price.I spoke to my dealer and he will give it to me for 10% over his cost is this a good deal.I have always wanted a Browning HP but they are so damn expensive. The condition on these guns is listed as very good and they come with 2 hi cap mags.Is an FN a Browning anyway???Any help would be great. Thanks

The Hundgarian FEG clone imported by KBI is an excellent value. You should be able to find them NIB, w/one hi-cap, for well under $250. As a bonus, the safety, and slide release levers are MUCH more user friendly in design.

For what it's worth . . . I bought one of the Israeli trade-in Hi Powers from AIM several months back (as, if I recall correctly, did several other TFLers). Service was very responsive and the gun was exactly as described. Unmodified, the gun shoots better than one of my other much nicer looking BHPs. Would buy from AIM again with no hesitations. Used BHPs in my area of Virginia (Hampton Roads) are going for well over $400 when I see them so this might be a nice way to pick one up if I was really motivated.

However you go about it, a Hi Power is a wonderful addition to the collection. Good luck.

Oh yea, "FN" is the company that makes the Hi Power. It's kosher, no worries.

If you like the 1911 then you will love the BHP. My advice would be if possible get the Browning MKIII instead of older BHPs or clones. Better sights and ambi safety on the newer models. Also I have both 9mm and 40cal but much prefer the 9mm. Enjoy.

FN owns the Browning name. FN is Fabrique Nationale of Belgium. Back in 1934-35 they issued the first HP which was initially designed by the great John Browning. Before Browning could finish the design he passed away, and a FN engineer named D. J. Saive really perfected the pistol.

Browning worked with FN after his falling out with Colt. Today FN makes many firearms including some of the finest battle rifles and machine guns. The US Army's SAW light machine gun is manufactured by FN and they manufacture the current version of Ma Deuce (M2 .50 cal Browning heavy machine gun).

The HP is arguably the finest SA combat auto ever. There are many different models to choose from today. They are pricey but I think they are the prettiest handguns made.

Someday I hope to obtain a Capitan model.

I'll second the 'yes' votes here.

I own a HP mk III and I love it, but its entirely subjective. I have fired M1911s and honestly didn't see the attraction- I admit it is a classic design, but nothing about the gun really captured my attention. I cannot say the same for the HP. As soon as I picked it up it just felt *right* in my hand. Like I said, very subjective.

BTW, I have noticed that most m1911 guys do *not* like the HP, and vice versa. It seems that every time you try to cross the two, you get involved in the usual 9mm v .45 ACP p!$$ing contest, with a side order of "well *this* was Browning's *best* design" as a bonus.

My advice? Try it out and see if you want to add it to your collection. If you do, and the guns are in good shape, that sounds like a good price. I paid a little more for my mk III.

If it's in good shape I would do it.
I love my HP and prefer it over any of my other autos. Great size for 13rds, easy to carry.
I'm looking to find one to fire in .40 to see if it still mantains the same feel or not.
Good Luck with it.

Hello all. Count me in, too. The HP in 9mm is my favorite handgun for both general shooting and self-defense. It's followed closely by CZ-75s in 9mm and 1911s in .45ACP.
I have one BHP MkIII in .40 and don't care for it as much as the others mentioned. Best to all.
