FN FNX .45

I am looking for some help in deciding on my next purchase of a full size .45 FN FNX, trying to decide between the new .45 PPQ or the FNX. Both within my price range, does anyone here own an FNX that can help me along in my decision?

The FNX 45 is great. It gives you plenty of carry options from "cocked and locked" to traditional DA/SA. It is one of the highest capacity .45s on the market. The grip texture feels aggressive but it provides excellent purchase. Just understand that it is a BIG gun. If you haven't held one, make sure it fits your hand. There are a couple options with the interchangeable backstrap but overall size is an important consideration. That may also be a concern for when and how you carry it.

In my experience, it's as durable as it is reliable. I've never left one out to bake in the sun but does anyone think that's a good idea for any precision tool made of black plastic?!? BTW, here is the update for that video:

As per cycling, it eats everything I feed it. The only problem I've ever seen is when a new shooter stovepiped a couple rounds. This is a very light gun for a fairly powerful caliber and probably not the best choice for a first timer. Of course, a little grip coaching solved that problem.

I think it would come down to your preference between striker fired, withou-thumb-safety and hammer fired, with-thumb-safety weapons and how each fits your hand. I would pay no attention to the melting polymer issue.

If the PPQ is to your liking, I would also suggest looking at the M&P45 and Glock 21. I personally own and like the XDm45.

This .45 purchase will be strictly for the range and home as I edc cc a Walther PPS 9MM, I love my PPS and Walther so I'm sure I'd love the PPQ, I only own striker fired pistols so it would be sweet to have a hammer style pistol. My hands are an average medium size I would really like to hold the FNX in my hand to get a feel of its size but none of my LGS have it.

Ah the ole squishy video. Check the comments and you'll find countless people in those as well as elsewhere online that have never had any such problem with their FNX pistols (I didn't with the two I owned). Weirdness can occur no matter the manufacturer. How the company deals with it is the key, and from the update video it seems like they remedied the issue.

The FNX-45 is an excellent shooter with best-in-class capacity, but it is a fat, bulky gun. I've got small hands, and it didn't affect my shooting at all, but it is was slighly awkward for me to handle.

I've no experience with the PPQ 45, but the 9mm is one of my favorite guns on the market.
