FN 5-7 pistol for conceal carry

It's been a couple of years since I've seen discussions on this pistol. It is very accurate, potent, and has controllable recoil.

Does anyone conceal carry this for self defense?
Have the prices come down on the gun?
Has ammo availability increased on it for effective defensive ammo?

I see ammo in my LGS as well as many online sources. IMO the gun is big to CC but may be fine for open carry such as LEO.

I like the 5-7 I shot but way too big for CC IMO very thick. If there was a 5-7 single stack I would own one.

-Yes, but not me, because concealing any big gun is difficult
-No, prices are still ~$1000 for the pistol, though there are deals out there
-Yes, FNH makes about three or four varieties that are readily available, as well as American Eagle, and smaller companies like Elite Ammunition. Apart from the armor-defeating-orientation of the EA solid copper bullets, all bullets for 5.57x28 are essentially defensive-types (tumbling/fragmenting/deforming) by way of the restrictions of the LEOPA (armor-piercing ammo regs). Price is about .30-.40/rnd, but the supply issues that plagued us in years past seem to no longer be a worry.

Seriously? It comes up like once a week.

For what it's worth CDR, I CC mine frequently. I use an Alien Gear IWB holster and most of the time I can't even feel that it's there. None of my local shops carry ammo for it but I can find it online all day long for about the same price as .45 ACP.

"...ammo availability..." Not really. Midway shows FNH(isn't readily available) and Federal only. Options are a 40 grain FMJ from Federal or a 27 grain HP from FNH. Not list by Graf's at all.
"...can find it online..." Shipping painful?

I would love to own one but I wouldn't conceal carry one...I think there are a lot more comfortable options that still have plenty to offer.

I have a friend that CC's one and he does not seem to have a problem finding ammo, it seems to be all over the place here. I really like the weight of the weapon and would carry one if I had one but will have to stick with the poor mans 5.7 AKA the PMR-30 if I'm looking for super lite weight carry.

On one hand, the 5-7 is a great gun. It's accurate and reliable. The recoil is very gentle. It holds twenty without a magazine extension. The rounds seem to both penetrate well and tumble in tests I've seen.

On the other hand, it is big enough that you might need to go with shoulder carry or get creative with IWB to conceal it. For the real estate it takes up, it's gotta compete with a lot of other great full-sized pistols that are less... quirky. More subjectively, I prefer traditional DA/SA in a carry gun and with only one real choice in this caliber, I'm plumb out of luck. (As a big fan of the FNX series, I still don't understand the lack of options here.) Add to that the cost of the gun, the availability of holsters, etc...

I recently bought one and carry it IWB. I carry a Glock 20 the same way and really don't notice much difference. It's really more of just getting used it a little bit. It's probably not going to carried as much in the hot weather, but right now it's fine to carry concealed. Also, I'm 5' 10" 155, and it's really not a problem.

As for price, it's as previously stated; wait for the deals. I bought mine for $900 w/450 rounds of ammo.
