It is a good solid rifle, and accurate, though I don't like it as well as the M1. It loads from the top with 5 round "stripper" clips; the magazine can be removed, but cannot be loaded when detached, so extra magazines are not feasible.
It is easy to maintain and clean and its adjustable gas system allows it to be used with full power or light loads. The gas system can also be cut off, a feature intended for grenade launching, but which can be used to make it a straight-pull bolt action.
