Florida

Am I wrong, or is there a lot of violent crime in Florida? Seem to be a lot of stories posted on the web about people having to defend themselves from human predators in Florida.

Of course, there is also a lot of violent crime here in Massachusetts. But because of the strong Criminals' Rights movement championed by the Boston Globe, much goes un-or mis-reported.

You probably see more stories about people DEFENDING themselves from criminals in Florida because Florida affirms the citizen's right to carry the means with which to DEFEND oneself. I love it. If a "human predator" comes after me and mine, he gets a new navel by Cor-Bon and the Sheriff just comes and hauls away the remains. Exactly as it should be.

Violent crime in Florida has decreased every year since the Shall Issue CCW law was passed.

I keep files of armed self-defense incidents, as recorded in local newspapers. I have approximately 5,000 cases. States that have high numbers of armed self-defense are: Florida, North Carolina, Arizona, and Texas. States with few incidents of armed self-defense are: Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey.

You decide why.

Much as I hate living in the new (North) South, I must whole-heartedly agree. The reason you hear more of them is because we have the right to defend ourselves! And amazingly our local Jacksonville affiliate of the FOX network seems to enjoy reporting them. One of the few media groups that seems to tell at least a little bit more of the story.

I thought I'd seen it all, until a 22WMR spun a bunny 2 1/4 times in the air!

You know the Fox network -- if it bleeds, it leads, and if it bleeds controversy, so much the better. Regardless of their motives, I guess I should be glad that someone is publicizing the effect of RKBA and CCW on the criminal element.

When I was in Navy flight training at NAS Corpus Christi, TX, every evening a local TV station would show film of that day's most gruesome car accident. It had an effect upon us re. drinking and driving, I can tell you that. A real appetite suppressant. Don't know if that station still shows this material. Not PC, you know.
