Florida crime stats?

Regarding the new "Castle Doctrine" laws recently enacted here, where would I go to find out what effect it has had on the states crime stats?
Have they gone down?
I hope so!
That will be another nail in the "Anti" coffin!:D

That's what I thought.
I'm curious though, if there has been any noticeable change since it began compared to the same time period last year.

It is too soon for any statistics on the Castle Doctrine. I generally takes 4 or 5 years to generate enough numbers to have any meaning.

I can say that locally there has been no difference in the shooting numbers since the law went into effect.

They are both by John Lott and pretty good. The Bias Against Guns deals a lot more with number crunching than the first one.

But,is non resident open carry legal in FLA?

Open carry is not legal in Florida by anyone.

I don't know how the state as a whole is doing, but Jacksonville isn't doing so hot this year. We've got a big spike in homicides.

Oh yea, they had a spike in shootings at Tallahassee Federal Correctional Institution with two LEOs dead in one day. Some blamed Bush's Iraq policy, but others claimed it is what happen when FBI agents try to arrest armed prison guards.

The spike in Jacksonville seems to be primarily Gangsta to Gangsta, but unfortunately, in the process innocent bystanders get caught up. Castle Doctrine or Legal Carry wouldn't affect these problems too much. The BG's are not renowned for respect for the law. Right to carry laws have resulted in a marked, measurable reduction in crime.

True. I couldn't figure out a delicate way of saying it, but that's about as nice a way as you could do it.
