Florida castle doctrine, when?

Two questions...When does the Florida's improved Castle Doctrine law go into effect? I understood it was suppose to be in October. And the other question...I waiting for my appointment with I.C.E. as an Immigration Enforcement Agent. What sidearm do they issue now. I know it used to be the Berretta .40 cal but I heard that D.H.S. has contracts with both SIG and H&K.
